Hi, I’m Amanda.
Poore Man Bakery came about when I was flying for the Marine Corps. Baking has long-been a passion of mine, and making statement cakes and desserts to commemorate a special occasion or person is always an honor.
After getting out of the military, I moved to London to study French Pastry at Le Cordon Bleu and haven’t looked back!
What started as a home bakery in Hawaii, turned into a commercial kitchen and farmers markets in Rhode Island, and now storefront operations in the Bay Area. We are currently located in Pacifica at 1625 Palmetto Ave. See our Pastry tab for hours, pre-order options, and the menu.

Poore Man Bakery opened in Pacifica. We operate out of Shampa’s Pies in the morning before they open. Somehow, I thought that I could do everything alone: the baking, the cleaning, packaging and ringing customers up, and so on. Boy was I wrong. After one month of selling out every day because I could not single-handedly produce enough, I was fortunate enough to have two incredible women offer to work with me. Teeda is the wonderful human you meet at the front every day. and Talia is the dough master, who helps me shape croissants. After two months off business, we have been fortunate to have Bee, Emily, and Nicole join our team as well.
