Hi, I’m Amanda.

Poore Man Bakery came about when I was flying for the Marine Corps. Baking has long-been a passion of mine and making statement cakes and desserts to commemorate a special occasion or person is always an honor.

After getting out of the military, I moved to London to study French Pastry at Le Cordon Bleu. I am fortunate to have been able to study bread in Paris and work in numerous bakeries and professional kitchens across the country over the years.

What started as a home bakery in Hawaii, turned into a commercial kitchen and farmers markets in Rhode Island, and eventually storefront operations in the Bay Area. We are currently moving from the bay area to Roseville, so follow along for more updates.

March 2025 - April 2026

Poore Man Bakery operated out of Shampa’s Pies in the mornings before they open. Our 14 months in Pacifica were nothing short of incredible. I am so grateful for the support from those who traveled near and far to try our pastries, and I am especially grateful for the amazing team we had. Teeda, who runs her own marketing business in Pacifica, did an incredible job working up front. Talia, who owns Little Leaf Design, helped me laminate and shape our pastries. Colette was our macaron expert, and Carlos ran the back of house. All of them made this operation possible and I am beyond grateful to have them as teammates.

Looking forward in 2026

My husband and I received orders to Sacramento earlier this year. We have only ever done cross-country moves for the last 15+ years, so staying in the same time zone is very welcomed by us!

While I am looking for spaces in Roseville, I am currently taking some time to make the move and get settled into our new home. I will post updates on business here and on social media as they happen!
